Discover Area Parks in Jacksonville Beach FL

Florida is full of natural beauty, from the white sandy beaches to the numerous parks and preserves. If you’re considering working with a custom home builder in Jacksonville Beach FL, Glenn Layton Homes is who you should turn to to help create your dream home that makes the most of coastal living and the easy proximity to wonderful parks for all ages.

There are at least eight parks in the general Jacksonville Beach area, so there’s no excuse not to head out and enjoy a day of activities or just a fun gathering with family and friends enjoying a picnic. Even dogs have their own special park. Paws Park is a membership playground for dogs. While there are other off-leash dog areas, this one has separate areas for large dogs and small dogs, as well as watering bowls, benches for owners to relax, and even an educational bulletin board. It’s also handicap accessible to ensure everyone can have some fun.

Those interested in viewing a variety of species of flora and fauna – including mammals, reptiles, and birds – will appreciate the area’s newest park, Cradle Creek Preserve. This 43+ acre park is mostly undisturbed land located along the Intracoastal Waterway, not far from the River Landing community where we build exceptional coastal homes. The preserve allows you to explore the area along nature trails and elevated boardwalks. There’s also an observation platform overlooking Pablo Creek Estuary. In addition, there’s a canoe and kayak landing pier, offering another way to explore the area. Informational signs throughout the preserve help visitors learn more about the rich history of the area.

If you want to combine the ocean and a park, the two-acre Oceanfront Park offers a great setting and amenities. In the center of the park is a bronze statue, Sea Express, which depicts a young boy riding the back of a dolphin. It was created by Kristen Visbal, and symbolizes the city’s dedication to preserving public access to the ocean for future generations. Enjoy the circular open space surrounded by pathways planted with vegetation, along with four sheltered picnic areas, a sand volleyball court, a small children’s playground, an educational kiosk system, handicapped-accessible ramp, and two dune walkovers.

There are plenty of parks with nature trails and information about the local flora and fauna, but sometimes you just want to play. The South Beach Park and Sunshine Playground offers an array of activity opportunities. Start with a basketball court, two pickleball courts, a tennis court, and three sand volleyball courts. Then add in a multipurpose turf field, a children’s playground, a skate park, seasonal splash pad, fitness trails with exercise stations, six picnic shelters, and two grills. There’s truly something for everyone.

These are just a few of the many parks throughout Jacksonville Beach. If you choose to work with Glenn Layton Homes, a leading custom home builder in Jacksonville Beach FL, you can build on your own lot or explore the additional amenities available when you choose to call River Landing home.
