Family Fun in St Augustine FL

Yachtsman’s Point is the final phase of Pelican Reef, a waterfront neighborhood of custom homes in St. Augustine FL. This exclusive collection of 13 coastal homes is conveniently located near a variety of family friendly amenities and attractions. Downtown St. Augustine is just a short drive away, offering a variety of shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions. The neighborhood is also located near several parks and nature preserves, providing ample opportunities for outdoor recreation. Plus, it is situated on the eastern side of the Intracoastal Waterway, offering residents easy access to boating and water activities.

St. Augustine’s rich history makes it a common school field trip destination in Central and Northern Florida, and if you actually live there, then you can easily take in the sights and long history of the area. One of the most popular for all ages is the Castillo de San Marcos. This impressive fort is the oldest masonry fort in the continental U.S. The fort’s thick walls mixed with cochina shells, protected the city from the Spanish. Visitors can tour on their own, see musket drills, cannon fire, and even old cannons sunk into the thick walls of the fort. Living history interpreters can tell you even more about the fort’s history and use.

Another classic is the Oldest Wooden School House, built more than 200 years ago, where visitors can get a sense of what school was like in the early days. Other fun, nearby sites are the Old Jail and the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum. Best of all, you can get into both if you get a ticket to ride on the Old Town Trolley or Red Express Tours, which will take you to more than 20 stops around St. Augustine and are great for taking a break from the summer heat and walking, especially with little ones.

There’s more than just historic tours, though. A local favorite is Anastasia State Park. This 1,600-acre park has a rich ecosystem and abundant wildlife. There are also shaded picnic areas, restrooms, and within the park you’ll find Anastasia Watersports, which rents kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards for some fun water activities.

If you’re an animal lover, you won’t want to miss the opportunity to swim with the dolphins at Marineland Dolphin Adventure. There’s also the St. Augustine Alligator Farm, where you can feed the gators and gain new appreciation for them.

These are just a few of the activities to enjoy once you decide to purchase one of our custom homes in St. Augustine at Yachtsman’s Point. Contact Glenn Layton Homes today to learn more about the waterfront lots and custom-built luxury homes available in this amazing community.
